About City

Amsterdam is the capital city and most populous municipality of the Netherlands. The city is located in the province of North Holland in the west of the country but is not its capital, which is Haarlem.
Amsterdam Museums:
There are around seventy five museums in Amsterdam and they are one of major Amsterdam attractions. Alongside the majestic golden age paintings, you'll find exciting modern art, press, film, theater, science, biology or photography museums. Also some interesting exhibits like the Heineken Experience, houseboat, erotic, cannabis or torture museums.
  • Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam
  • Stedelijk museum in Amsterdam
  • Van Gogh Museum
  • Anne Frank house
Amsterdam events and festivals:
Almost every week a cultural event or festival is held in Amsterdam. Many of these Amsterdam events and festivals have a long tradition and are carefully conserved by the Dutch. But these typical Dutch festivities are also very nice for tourists, because a lot of them are held with an English-speaking public in mind.

Amsterdam tourist attractions and sights:
The main Amsterdam tourist attractions are museums. Visit our museums section for more on that topic. But of course there are other attractions too. The following sites and monuments should be of sightseeing interest and are an essential part of the Amsterdam experience.

Amsterdam nightlife streets and squares:
After the quiet early evening hours, Amsterdam's streets and squares get again very busy at night. Around Leidseplein you will find the famed cultural and music centers Sugar Factory, Paradiso, Melkweg and Stadsschouw burg that offer varied artistic program for both young and old including big-name bands. Also lots of cafes, some smaller theatres, restaurants, cinemas and a casino.
Another busy area of clubs, cafes and cinemas is Rembrandtplein. The square is surrounded by clubs and cafes always full of guests.
Whether you have one, two, three days or more, Amsterdam has plenty to offer and more than enough to keep you entertained.
